Judy Chapman reports on the ever-burgeoning Karma Spa brand, which this month opens its flagship facility in India – with three more to follow in the subcontinent. There’s also news of a very special day of healing in January and she introduces a guest master who’ll be keeping us all in trim during the festive season.

October 21st sees the unveiling of Karma's flagship spa in India within the royal grounds of Haathi Mahal resort in the famed southern resort district of Goa, with three more following close behind. Enter a world of pure harmony where white stone floors, arches, domed ceilings, soulful music and soft dreamy drapes create a temple experience. Karma Spa features six therapy rooms inclusive of a traditional Kerala Ayurvedic therapy room and couples treatment room. Achieve renewal within the stone steam room, surrounded by seductive white marble. The Spa Club Lounge, fitted out with a complimentary tea bar, is the place for pedicures and indulgent foot rituals for both men and women.

Karma is soon to open its second, third and fourth spas at the Royal Goan Beach Club, Palms and Monterio in the North. Karma Spa India is headed up by a highly regarded Ayurvedic physician who will be on-site for complimentary wellness consultations for guests. He is supported by a team of therapists well versed in authentic Ayurvedic, western and modern spa therapies. Signature rituals include the 'Karma Maya Massage' bestowed with Tibetan singing bowls, Reiki and colour healing. Designed to nurture, soothe and heal, surrender as therapists massage your entire body with natural oils to restore balance. Treatments are completed with a spiritual chakra balancing ritual.

Check out Karma Spa's new Temple Room at Kandara, an all-white stone room that is the only one of its kind in Bali. Co-created by Karma Spa Curator, Judy Chapman and Karma lead designer Richard Manser from PMC Bali, this 'wow' new treatment room puts a contemporary slant to the ancient hammam spa sanctuaries found in the middle east. Enter a world of pure harmony where diaphanous drapes and a white pebble floor steam room create a celestial atmosphere. The centrepiece is a stone shrine that radiates healing heat, where therapists bestow cleansing scrubs. Select from a range of purifying Himalayan crystal salts infused with essential oils and seaweed & sea salt exfoliations. Depart renewed.
