A Friend in Mead

Change is afoot at Karma Samui, as our Thailand resort welcomes a new face and initiates some renovations

After a productive two years at Karma Samui, Mark Kitchen is leaving the resort in April to pursue career goals elsewhere. Karma offers sincere thanks for all the work he has done to make Karma Samui one of the most lauded resorts in the world. Chef Stefano Leone is also moving on, as the beachside restaurant develops a new direction under the guidance of renowned culinary expert Warren Mead. Warren is famous in Western Australia as the proprietor of some of the state’s most successful high end restaurants such as Mead’s at Mossman Bay and Black Toms in Subiaco. To create stronger brand identity across the Karma portfolio, Padma restaurant will be re-named Rockpool and will take on more of a seafood orientation. Warren is renowned for the simplicity of his menus and for the quality of his dishes, relying on locally sourced fresh produce and classic combinations. To accompany the changes, refurbishments are taking place on the new pool deck which will feature an outside bar area with shaded seating for those who wish to dine even closer to the water’s edge. We look forward to the revamped enterprise with bated breath.
